We saw this Monarch Butterfly flitting about the flowers as we walked in the gardens at Mount Vernon just south of Washington, D.C. The thought occurred to me that the people who strolled through those gardens back in the eighteenth century admired many of the same views that we saw that day we visited. Despite how much the world has changed since those days there are still same simple joys of nature for all of us to enjoy.
We see fewer of these butterflies each year.
