The odd little flowers in a pot out back go by the name of ‘rose moss’ around here! Some might alternately refer to them as ‘Mexican rose’, ‘moss rose’, or ‘eleven o’clock’ too. Once they bloom out they are gone in a day or two. I have seen three colors so far – reds, whites and yellows. We wonder that there might be one more color in this batch! I think these are the double-flower variety.
Absolutely beautiful

Nice flowers and rather smart leaves…I presume it’s a desert plant.

I have read that they are indigenous to South America but have become a popular plant for smaller homes and apartment dwellers.

Lovely pics of Portulaca grandiflora. These do extremely well in Summers in India too, one of few that enjoy temperatures over 40 C ( 100 deg. F). They flourish when temperatures rise. They come in numerous colours.

Our temperatures have been over 90 deg F here which is unseasonable for this early in the Summer. But the rose moss have certainly flourished! Thank you!

Hello Dennis. We have one such plant at home too. The flowers are baby-pink in color.
