Butterfly From a New Angle

I had posted a week or so ago complaining about my misfortune with butterfly photography. I published a handful of butterfly pictures where the butterfly kept his wings straight up (so we could not see the colorful side). I had resigned myself that I had failed again. But just as I was about to feel so sorry for myself, he came back, on a sunny day, sat on the same fence post and opened up his wings. He stayed for but a few moments and I got one good shot of him.

  1. I think butterflies rest, sleep and absorb heat through the underside of their wing, but do courtship displays etc with mainly the upper side. That is why the underneath is camouflaged and always rather boring (my story and I’m sticking to it!!)
